How we protect our website

Poconotopia applies security and anti-abuse controls to help protect the website and keep inquiries reliable. These measures are designed to be lightweight and practical.

Anti-spam Validation Rate limiting Monitoring

Contact form protections

  • CSRF token to help prevent unauthorized form submissions.
  • Honeypot field to trap automated bots.
  • Minimum time-to-submit to reduce scripted spam.
  • Rate limiting by IP to prevent bursts of abuse.
  • Optional IP blocking for repeated offenders (if enabled).

Email delivery reliability

The website uses authenticated SMTP for sending inquiry emails. We recommend keeping credentials stored in a protected server-side file (as you already do) and limiting file permissions.

What you can do

  • Use a strong email password and change it periodically.
  • Keep server files updated (themes, libraries, and plugins if used).
  • Review logs for unusual patterns (spikes of contact submissions, repeated IPs).

Report a concern

If you notice suspicious activity, please contact us via the Contact page and include relevant details (time, page, and what you observed).
